Quality Control Technician

Department:  Quality Control

Reports to:  QC Supervisor

Hourly Rate:  $19.06 to $21.12

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Description includes but not limited to the following:

The Quality Control Technician (QC Tech.) will have the responsibility to test, inspect and facilitate raw material receiving and in-process inspection. The QC Tech will monitor the production and test processes with the objective of compliance to written procedures and waste reduction. The QC Tech. will assist in the development of statistical analyses and trending in order to maintain the Quality System and the reliability and continuous improvement processes.

It shall be the job of the QC Tech to interpret documentation and spec sheets, work instructions and confer with production and management staff to define and update the applicable quality and reliability standards or documents.

This position is also responsible for maintaining the calibration system and performing designated calibrations per internal procedures.

QC Tech will also function as a trained internal/supplier auditor.

 

Overall Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming inspection/ analysis on raw materials/components according to written procedures and spec.
  • Manage and maintain the QC laboratory.
  • Support the internal/supplier auditing function to GFSI System requirements.
  • Maintain instrument calibration system, documents and procedures.
  • Assures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GAP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation.
  • Perform job duties adhering to quality specifications, food safety, legality and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with applicable USDA. Prior auditing experience is desired.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing inspection tools ; experience with calibration systems required
  • Proficient with PC use including Excel and MS Word
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Technician, or similar.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
