Quality Control Specialist

Department:  Q2 Quality Control

Reports to:  QC/QA Manager

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Description includes but not limited to the following:

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you must be able to fill in when a regular QA employee is absent or not available. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. You will inspect all product to insure they are in spec. Keep records of all product ran through shift, check all raw materials, check batter for viscosity and fryer speed, test for bacteria and staph, grade onions on receiving. Perform job adhering to food safety, legality and quality.

Key Job Responsibilities

Inspect, Keep Records and Test

  • Check finished product on an hourly basis to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Fill out QA grade sheets, raw material receiving reports correctly and accurately.
  • Sample raw product to ensure it meets specifications.
  • Perform micro testing on finished products.
  • Communicate with line leaders, supervisors and line workers about product quality issues.
  • Be able to work in Manufacturing, Sanitation and R & D in case needed.
  • Will provide training for advancement for the selected candidate.
  • May be assigned other tasks as needed.

Collecting, Consulting and Supporting

  • Collecting and analyzing process data for a new or modified product line.
  • Verifying product labeling to ensure nutritional compliance with company policy.

Working Environment


The position provides an exciting combination of hands-on and technical analysis and administrative tasks. Time will be spent between the office, production floor and kitchen/lab areas; large majority of your time may be spent working on the production floor – this is not a laboratory position. Work closely with quality auditors, production supervisors and sanitation managers.

  • Monitoring – Monitoring/assessing performance of employees and to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Clerical – knowledge of administrative and clerical methods such as word processing, managing files, and records, and designing forms.
  • Education and Training – knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum.
  • Oral Expression – the ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Written Expression – the ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.


  • Minimum High school diploma required, (higher education is preferred)
  • Prior training and/or teaching experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and will be loud in the plant.
