Sanitation Supervisor

Department:  Sanitation

Reports to:  Quality Manager

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Brief Job Description:

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of sanitation department, leading a team of approximately 25 sanitation associates to maintain the processing environment in a hygienic condition according to the Food and Drug Administration, the US Dept. of Agriculture, and company policies. Adhere to food safety, legality and quality specifications. Driving continuous improvement is expected.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Training and supervising a group of sanitation associates
  • Maintaining team work schedule and monitoring overtime
  • Overseeing compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and programs
  • Coordinating with Quality Manager to make department decisions regarding sanitation
  • Promoting a safe work environment in all activities
  • Maintaining inventory levels of chemicals and supplies
  • Scheduling team work activities to complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements
  • Communicates issues and concerns to the Quality Manager
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of all activities
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Work closely with all departments to maintain flow of communication, promoting cooperation between departments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in related field or minimum 3 years related work experience
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with all levels of staff and management
  • Preferred bilingual Spanish/English abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial sanitation practices and chemicals
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated to function independently within area of responsibility
  • Ability to follow instructions and willingness to assume responsibility
  • Must be able to multi-task, be flexible, and be a team player
  • Willingness to share knowledge and function under strong leadership
  • Ability to react in fast paced and changing environment
