Quality Control Supervisor

Department:  Quality

Reports to:  Quality Manager

Salary:  $58,000 to $62,000 per year

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Job Description:
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Quality Assurance team as well as to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration with each other as well as other areas of the facility.  A primary responsibility of this role is to develop the team’s skills and engage them to meet goals. Driving continuous improvement is expected.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing training of staff, planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Assist employees in resolving work related problems or concerns
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals and develop performance improvement plans as needed
  • Maintain team work schedule and monitor overtime
  • Assure compliance to quality standards through effective supervision of Quality Lab personnel
  • Coordinate with Quality Manager to make department decisions regarding quality and food safety
  • Promote a safe work environment in all activities
  • Maintain inventory levels of necessary supplies
  • Communicate issues and concerns to the Quality Manager
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all activities
  • Work closely with all departments to maintain flow of communication, promoting cooperation between departments
  • Support and drive continuous improvement projects
  • Research customer complaints per Quality Manger directive
  • Assist in facilitation of 3rd party and internal audits and inspections
  • Member of plant Food Safety team
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned                           

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor
  • Preferred Bachelor degree in related field or minimum 3 years related work experience
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with all levels of staff and management
  • Preferred bilingual Spanish/English abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of food manufacturing requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated to function independently within area of responsibility
  • Ability to follow instructions and willingness to assume responsibility
  • Must be able to multi-task, be flexible, and be a team player
  • Willingness to share knowledge and function under strong leadership
  • Ability to react in fast paced and changing environment
