"Good Times Drive Thru Burgers is a regional chain of fast food restaurants
that does battle daily with the giants of the industry -- McDonald's,
Wendy's and Burger King. Our challenge as a business has been to position
Good Times as a 'uniquely positive alternative to the big guys.' We do
this in a number of ways -- by focusing on drive-thru only, through advertising
that reflects as alternative, irreverent brand personality and through the
introduction of new and unique products.
In the fall of 1998, Good Times introduced its most successful new product in the
10 year history of the company -- old-fashioned onion rings. On promotion, nearly
one in three customers were ordering the new onion ring -- a number that far
exceeded our expectations. The onion ring itself is of the highest quality,
made from the whole ring and coated with a sweet batter. Prior to the onion ring
introduction, Good Times spent considerable time evaluating the products and
capabilities of numerous vendors. Ultimately, we selected Great American Appetizers
to do the job and it has proven to be a smart decision. We enjoy many things about
Great American Appetizers -- their commitment to quality, their ability to innovate
and move quickly when needs arise, and perhaps most importantly, their very
genuine, personal interest in our success. Old fashioned onion rings has been a 'monster'
product for Good Times. It has brought new business to our location, increased our
average check size and has grown our combined side item category by over 10%. We
are grateful to Great American for the significant role that they have played, and
continue to play, in the growth of our business."
